Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world

-Nelson Mandela

For centuries, countless men and women have worked to further access to quality education and ensure societal progress. In the modern age, quality education has liberated families from the chains of poverty and enabled the path to prosperity.

In rural India, education also empowers women who barely complete college education before spending the rest of their lives tending to domestic responsibilities and chores of the home. As years go by, this creates unequal gender balance in the workspace with fewer women entering the industry every year compared to men. Besides learning and education, the struggle for basic human needs such as a clean toilet is real.

Among the core values at Satkriya is to help educate children from marginalised segments of society in a transparent manner. This ensures the child gains access to better learning without any bias of his/her background, and everyone who partners with us has a sense of visibility to how resources are judiciously applied towards the core purpose. In the end, we all want to see the families of these young dreams and ambitions realise a future of security, contentment and satisfaction.

Today, Santhosh and the team at Satkriya work to mobilise channels for growth, learning, development and opportunity for students who would otherwise drop out from schools to support their families.

How you can help

Whether you are an individual, or part of a corporate doesn’t matter. Satkriya can find ways to channel your passion for better education for marginalised students. Not everything is about money. Sometimes, it’s all about being there when someone needs you. We believe students in some of the remotest regions could benefit from your valuable skills and experiences. All you need to do is offer some of your time, passion, and skill to teach students a new approach to life.

If you are a part of a corporate, then we are happy to partner with you, and leverage multiple like-minded individuals in your team to bring lasting impact in the minds of young students.

Here is all the information you need about our programmes:

This is an opportunity for you to be the reason someone does better in life. All you need to do is volunteer some of your time. Not all needs are rooted in money. Some just need encouragement and time. Time that would otherwise be spent binge-watching a series on the internet.

We invite you to be a mentor for students pursuing higher education. You can be a coach for teachers in rural regions and help them discover new aspects in the fast moving world we all live in. You can choose to help pre-primary school or higher education teachers based on your skill.

Engage with people, offer vocational training, help build skills that will be useful in employability.

Depending on what excites you, you can teach part time in person, virtually or even collaborate to ensure students receive better instruction. This can be done in a library or school in a village where students gather together and learn from your experience. If you have a skill, we are waiting to hear from you.

We all need an incentive to continue doing what we do. In rural India, even education needs an immediate incentive. Beyond all the daily struggle, education is often seen as a liability. The expense and the fact that the children at home will not be able to help out with the family’s task on the farm is a barrier to the child’s free access to quality education. Satkriya aims to solve this cause for dropping out of education by installing a sponsorship.

Your participation ensures that when students pass out from a government school and are pondering over their next step in life, financial burden isn’t a barrier that kills that dream.

Each step along the way since they pursue higher education, Satkriya will help them along the way. Besides the cost of education in college, the team at Satkriya finds ways to connect young graduates and offer them internship opportunities through a wide network of companies.

After education, this is the much needed stepping stone to get a feel of corporate life. Post education, there is a need for guidance in preparing for interviews, facing people especially from the urban world, dressing, grooming tips and a wide range of soft skills that is needed to succeed in the professional setup.

We also help young graduates gain access to one-year apprenticeship opportunities with a stipend. Having training & apprenticeship opportunities as a fresher, helps gain employment opportunities that would help them shape their future in the years to come.

We would love to hear from you if you are excited to get up and running on the ground. If you work with corporates, or are employed with a company large or small, you have an opportunity to mobilise minds with a similar passion. There are several opportunities where we can collectively pool in resources to make a difference.

Did you know there are schools that exist without a computer lab? That the future may not include IT professionals from some of these towns simply because we didn’t intervene today?

If we get together and focus our attention, we can help set up these facilities. Even basic rights such as access to a functional toilet and basic hygiene can be a huge motivation for learning in rural India.

We would love to hear from you if this is an opportunity you are passionate about.
